Optical Devices
Optical devices are components that record and transmit data by using light. Data is transmitted by changing light into electrical signals and electrical signals into light. These components are mainly used in electronic circuits. Semiconductors, which have a conductive characteristic that fall between that of a conductor and an insulator, are used in many devices. Optical devices include LEDs used in thermal conductive pads, etc., laser diodes used in medical devices, etc., photodiodes used in smoke detectors, etc., phototransistors, which are light sensors, and more. Solar batteries, which use solar energy to generate power, are also a type of optical device. Optical devices have a wide range of applications and can be used in various locations, and must be selected accordingly.
